Morley's Final Catalogue: Bentley Woods: locally common round Ipswich and at Monks Soham light in April (Mly). Aldeburgh, Leiston; Needham, Stowmarket, Bury. Wrentham (Gd); Beccles (Crf).

Recent Suffolk Status: Locally common.

Life history: Single-brooded. Can be seen flying at dusk as well as at light.

Identification: Phoenix flies much later in the year. Devon carpet is a much smaller moth and only known from one location in the county.

Habitat: Hedgerows, woodland rides, gardens.

Recorded in 40 (69%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1940.
Last Recorded in 2024.
